title. What is in a Number: Exhibition
project type: touch screen game and projected interactive
site: viewable at the Unley Museum

Developed for the Unley Museum 2025 exhibition for children on the history and stories behind numbers.

A principle touchscreen table interactive allows visitors to explore six mini-interactives. Called 'Number Toys' these interactives created playful experiences for younger visitors to the exhibition, allowing them to 'animate numbers', 'peek behind blinds','create a multi-limbed monster' and more.

A second touchscreen on a display stand was a multiple choice quiz about numbers based on the information in the exhibition. When visitors completed the quiz a reward (a certificate postcard) would magically come out of the mouth of Loki (the god of the number 13). This 'magic' was achieved using the simplest (and cheapest) possible solution. The pre-printed certificates were loaded into a printer. When the quiz was complete the interactive would tell the printer to print a blank page, which resulted in the certificate being loaded from the paper tray hidden behind Loki's head and coming out the front of the printer through Loki's mouth. A delight for children visiting the exhibition.
